Changing Perspective

There is absolutely no denying the fact that wearable technology is changing our perspective on the world. And when one talks about smart glasses, then this statement can be indeed taken literally! While there are plenty of operators in this space, we must talk about Moverio.

Made by Epson, these smart glasses, known officially as the Epson Moverio BT-200, are all about the marriage of augmented reality and projection technology. This is a fascinating world indeed because it allows you to enjoy the world around you with a wired controller.

Epson is also positioning these smart glasses as fabulous solutions and having practical applications in sectors such as medical science, entertainment and manufacturing as well.

Perhaps one of the distinguishing features about the BT-200 from Epson is the fact that each lens offers its own display. It is capable of projecting images into your surroundings. Epson is also ensuring that it is ‘developer friendly’. The company offers a whole bunch of resources that developers can use in order to build a custom application for this pair of smart glasses.

How does the augmented reality work on the Epson Moverio BT-200? For one, there is a front facing camera which is a new addition. There is also a dual screen that supports 3-D display and various AR applications. Interestingly, the company has also added a motion tracker which captures the smallest of head movements.

Wired Controller

The wired controller meant to operate these smart glasses runs on Android 4.0. It has Bluetooth connectivity and offers 32GB of storage as well. There is also built-in Wi-Fi which you can use to stream data rich content such as video. Considering the fact that Epson has put the controls for the glasses on this little box, it can make operating the smart glasses a little easier.

Well, wearable technology has definitely made it easier for us to enjoy an enhancement of the reality around us. Smart glasses like the Epson Moverio BT-200 indeed go further to make augmented reality a hugely entertaining experience.
