Watching Android Smartness
There is so much action taking place in the smartwatch space. It is indeed fascinating to see big names and not so big names battle it out for market share on your wrist. It does seem like every smartwatch maker comes up with a feature that changes everything that its predecessors had done. Whether it is Will.i.am’s Puls or the .klatz and its design – the smart watch segment is constantly getting shaken up.
Perhaps one of the big movers and shakers in this domain is Android. While there may be plenty of devices operating on this platform, let us take a look at five smartwatches which are based on Android.
The round Moto 360 is great to look at! Not what you would expect from a ‘geeky’ smartwatch. It offers Bluetooth connectivity and is powered by a TI OMAP 3 processor. As design sensibilities go, this smartwatch is quite magnificent looking with its Horween leather bands and crisp 1.56 inch, 320 x 290 LCD display. Dual microphones mean that voice commands get obeyed pretty well!
The LG G Watch R is again, making waves because of its full circle P-OLED display. This is a huge watch and holds the promise of fabulous battery life. It has a 1.3 inch, 320 x 320 screen. It also gives you an always on display. And for the individual who loves a feature packed device, the LG G Watch R has 18 watch faces to offer.
The Samsung Gear 2 is next on our list. Customization seems to be the biggest strength of this smartwatch since it offers a whole bunch of style and design choices. With its built-in camera and personalized real-time information on fitness, this is one very smart watch indeed. You will love its 2 inch, Super AMOLED 360 x 480 pixel display.
The Asus ZenWatch is another gorgeous looking watch. This device stands apart because it has a customized user interface which allows you to cloak Android Wear with custom skin. You can also find your phone with the help of this watch. AMOLED with 1.63 inches and 320 x 320 display makes this watch rather easy to use.
We round up this list with the Sony SmartWatch. Just a few days ago, this device has made its way into the Google Play store. Dedicated applications and the ability to work with quite a large number of Android phones make the SmartWatch pretty nifty. It has a multi touch color 1.6 inch, 320 x 320 OLED display. There is Pebble, Martian and Toq too and we can take a look at it at some other time. Even as I write this, the world of smartwatches is abuzz with Microsoft coming up with its own smartwatch. This device is all set to work with other mobile platforms as well and one of the things that it promises to deliver is fabulous battery life. Well, we will have to wait and see what unfolds as far as Microsoft and Android watches go.
Interesting how Android has shaped up to be quite a powerful contender in the world of smartwatches. With such big names getting associated with this platform, there should be a touch of Android smartness on everybody’s wrist in no time at all!
